I am an artist, educator and facilitator from Greater Manchester, UK.
My art practice is research-led and I use objects, materials and processes to explore the ways that people are documented in material culture and place. The language and practices of everyday culture and museum collection inform my sculpture, site-specific installation, and public activity.
I often make my work as part of artist residencies and public commissions; previous project partners have included National Trust, Cadw and Arts Council of Wales National Glass Centre Sunderland, Castlefield Gallery and Aberystwyth Arts Centre. My work is held in the permanent collection of MIMA and was exhibited as part of Sonia Boyce OBE RA’s touring exhibition In the Castle of My Skin in 2020-21.
Between 2017 and 2021 I co-founded the artist-led space, Paradise Works Salford in response to the erasure of artist-led communities from city centres. I worked with artists to establish long-term studio provision with a dynamic programme of exhibitions, artistic development and public facing activity, and led on strategic development activities. I was awarded the Clore Fellowship for this work in 2019 with Clore Leadership and a-n, and subsequently participated in an 18-month programme of professional development activity, completing a coaching accreditation with RD1st and Culture at Work, and a AHRC funded research project on artist communities and placemaking with supervision from University of Salford.
In 2021, I was awarded a Developing your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England to complete a period of studio development and produce new sculptural works in ceramics. In 2022 I returned to my creative practice and commenced training in Transactional Analysis psychotherapeutic counselling, and I am currently exploring the crossover between the two. I continue to draw my broad expertise into my role as lecturer of cross-disciplinary Critical & Contextual Studies at the University of Salford School of Arts & Media.
