My art practice is research led and often use objects, materials and process to explore the documentation of the human condition in material culture and place. I use the language and practice of social sciences and museum studies in order to create sculpture, installation and public activity which explore the function of heritage and collection.

Since 2017 I have focused on my role as co-director to Paradise Works, Salford, where I am exploring how artists might retain their presence in rapidly changing urban landscapes. Between 2019-20 I will be undertaking the visual arts Clore Fellowship, supported by a-n, a bespoke professional development programme which seeks to develop leaders from across a wide range of cultural disciplines and sectors. In 2018 I was selected to programme Assembly Salford for a-n, and awarded a place on the Castlefield Gallery and a-n Artists’ International Delegation to Budapest.

My 2017 Professional Development Bursary for a-n explored the place for arts production in urban areas, and followed my 2016 curation of the Place + Production programme, including Progress, for Rogue Artists’ Studios, marking the group’s final year at Crusader Mill. I teach Critical & Contextual Studies at University of Salford School of Arts & Media.
